Custom Made Egg Chair Cover

UV & Waterproof 200gsm solution-dyed polyester
Made to Measure Cut to your exact dimensions
Made in 3 Weeks Express options available
Australia-Wide Delivery Tracked courier to every state

Egg chairs have a curved pod shape that standard covers simply cannot fit properly.

Your cover is made from 200gsm solution-dyed polyester that blocks UV and sheds water without any coating that can peel or crack.

Generic covers either leave the top exposed or pool at the sides because they are cut for flat-backed furniture, not curved pods.

A cover made to your exact width, depth, and height wraps the pod correctly and stays put through wind and rain.

Enter your pod measurements below and get a price instantly.

Step 01 Enter Your Measurements

Measure the chair pod only, not the stand or hanging frame. Width is the widest point of the pod from side to side. Depth is front to back at the widest point. Height is from the bottom of the pod itself to the top of the pod. Do not include the hanging chains, base stand, or footrest in any measurement.

Measuring guidelines

  • Measure the pod only. Ignore the stand, base, and any hanging hardware.
  • Width is the widest horizontal point of the pod, measured side to side.
  • Depth is front to back at the widest point of the pod.
  • Height is from the lowest point of the pod shell to the top of the pod.

Cover features

  • A clean, fabric-style outer face that suits a furnished outdoor space rather than the tarpaulin look you get from budget covers.
  • Six webbing tie-down points spaced around the base so the cover stays put when the wind picks up.
  • For furniture without legs to anchor to, an elastic perimeter can be sewn around the bottom edge instead. Just request this when placing your order.
  • A polyurethane waterproof layer bonded to the underside that holds up under UV exposure without flaking or breaking down.
  • Double-folded, twice-stitched seams that hide the raw edge of the fabric and keep stitch lines protected from water ingress.
  • No PVC anywhere in the construction, which means no cracking or splitting along the fold lines after a season or two of sun.
  • Solution-dyed polyester face fabric. Colour runs all the way through every fibre, so fading is dramatically reduced under harsh Australian sun.
  • A drawstring carry bag is included for storing the cover when guests are over or during the warmer months.
  • Light enough that one person can fit and remove it without help.
  • Backed by a warranty against premature fading and loss of waterproofing.
Please review your measurements carefully before submitting. Each cover is cut to the dimensions you provide, so we are unable to offer change-of-mind returns or cancel an order once production has begun.

Built to fit, not adapted to suit

Egg chairs come in dozens of shapes and sizes, and no two brands are identical. A cover cut to a flat rectangular template will never sit flush against a curved pod. We pattern each cover to your three measurements so the fabric follows the shape of the chair and stays secure in the wind.

One material, one quality, one price tier

Every cover we make uses the same 200gsm solution-dyed polyester regardless of size or complexity. The dye goes through the entire fibre, so the colour does not fade or peel away from a surface coating. It is UV-stable, waterproof, and tough enough for year-round outdoor use across any Australian climate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about ordering a custom egg chair cover.

How do I measure a curved pod shape accurately?

Use a tape measure and measure at the widest points for width and depth, holding the tape straight rather than following the curve. For height, measure from the lowest point of the pod shell to the highest point. It helps to have a second person hold one end of the tape in place. If you are unsure, take a photo of your chair with a tape measure visible and send it to our team.

Should I include the stand or base in my measurements?

No. Measure the chair pod only. The cover is designed to enclose the seat pod, not the stand. Whether your chair has a floor-standing base or hangs from a frame or ceiling, the measurement process is the same. Only measure the pod shell itself.

Will this cover work for a hanging egg chair and a floor-standing one?

Yes. The cover is made to fit the pod regardless of how it is supported. A hanging egg chair and a floor-standing egg chair with the same pod dimensions take the same cover. If you move your chair between a hanging frame and a floor stand, the cover will still fit.

What if I have a pod with a footrest attached?

Some egg chairs have a separate footrest or a lower section that extends from the main pod. If the footrest is part of the same shell structure, include it in your height measurement. If it is a separate piece, do not include it. When in doubt, contact us with a photo and we will advise.

What should I do in high-wind conditions?

Our covers include a drawcord or tie at the base to help keep the cover in place. In strong or sustained wind, we recommend removing the cover and storing it indoors, or securing the chair itself. No fabric cover will stay reliably on a hanging chair in very high wind. If you live in a cyclone-prone area, talk to us about additional fastening options.

Custom Made Egg Chair Covers — The Australian Owner's Complete Guide

5 min read Updated 2025 Custom Cover Company

Egg chairs are one of the harder pieces of outdoor furniture to find a cover for. The curved pod shape, the wide variety of sizes between brands, and the combination of hanging and floor-standing models means the standard cover aisle at a hardware store is largely useless. If you have spent any time searching, you already know this. A custom cover made to your actual pod dimensions is the only reliable way to get a proper fit.

This guide walks you through measuring your egg chair correctly, explains why the curved shape requires a slightly different approach than a flat-backed chair, and covers what to expect from the cover material itself.

Width

Width is the widest horizontal measurement of the pod from one side to the other. Hold your tape measure straight and level across the outside of the pod at its widest point. Do not follow the curve of the shell. You want a straight-line measurement from edge to edge. On most egg chairs this widest point is somewhere around the middle of the pod where the seat bowl is broadest.

Depth

Depth is the front-to-back measurement of the pod at its deepest point. Again, hold the tape straight rather than following the curve. Stand to one side of the chair and measure from the frontmost point of the pod to the backmost point. On some egg chairs the back of the pod curves inward toward the hanging point or stand attachment, so make sure you measure to the actual outer edge of the shell, not where it starts to narrow.

Height

Height is measured on the pod only, from the lowest point of the pod shell to the highest point. Do not measure from the ground, and do not include the stand or hanging hardware. If your chair has a small lip or edge at the bottom of the pod, measure from that. If it tapers smoothly to a hanging point, measure to where the shell ends and the hardware begins.

A note on the stand and hanging frame. These are not part of your measurements. The cover is built to enclose the chair pod. Whether that pod sits on a weighted base or hangs from a timber frame, the pod shape and dimensions are what determine your cover size.

The material

All our covers are made from 200gsm solution-dyed polyester. The weight is heavy enough to hold its shape on a curved pod without sagging but light enough that the cover is easy to put on and take off. Solution-dyed means the colour is part of the fibre itself rather than a surface treatment. Covers with a surface coating can peel, crack, or fade unevenly after a season or two in Australian sun. Solution-dyed fabric holds its colour and stays flexible through heat and UV exposure.

The fabric is waterproof. Rain runs off cleanly and the seams are tight enough to stop water working through under normal rainfall. The cover is not designed to be submerged or to handle pooling water on its surface, so if you can position the chair under an overhang during heavy rain that will extend the life of the cover.

Caring for your cover

Keeping the cover clean is straightforward. Wipe it down with a damp cloth for general dust and debris. For bird droppings or stubborn marks, use a mild soap and a soft brush and rinse with the garden hose. Let the cover air-dry fully before putting it back on the chair. Do not machine wash or tumble dry.

If you store the cover away during summer or during a period when the chair is in use, fold it loosely and keep it out of direct sun. Prolonged UV exposure will shorten the life of any fabric, even a solution-dyed one, so storing it out of the sun when it is not on the chair is a good habit.

Egg chairs that hang from a frame will move in the wind, and the cover will move with them. This is normal. The drawcord at the base helps keep the cover from riding up. In strong wind, particularly gusty or sustained wind, the safest option is to remove the cover and store it until conditions ease.
